Children's Privacy Notice

This notice explains how OrgMyHome handles information about children in compliance with GDPR, UK GDPR, COPPA (US), and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code (AADC).
1. Introduction
OrgMyHome allows adults to add children as household members to help organise family activities and schedules. We take the privacy and protection of children's data very seriously.
Only adults (18+) can create accounts. Children cannot create their own accounts or use OrgMyHome independently.
2. Information We Collect About Children
When an adult adds a child to their household, we collect only:
- First name (or nickname)
- Last name (optional)
- Date of birth (optional, used for age-appropriate features)
- Relationship to account holder (e.g., "child", "dependent")
We do NOT collect from children:
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Photos or images
- Precise location data
- Social media identifiers
- Behavioural data for advertising
3. How We Use Children's Information
We use children's information only to:
- Display their name in the household view
- Associate events and tasks relevant to them
- Help parents organise family schedules
We do NOT:
- Profile children or build behavioural profiles
- Use children's data for analytics
- Target advertising to children
- Share children's data with advertisers
- Use manipulative design patterns (dark patterns)
4. Parental Consent
By adding a child to your household, you confirm that you are the parent, guardian, or have appropriate authority to provide this information on the child's behalf.
You can add, edit, or remove children from your household at any time through your account settings.
5. Parental Rights
As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:
- Review - See all information we hold about your child
- Edit - Update or correct your child's information
- Delete - Remove your child from the household entirely
- Export - Request a copy of your child's data
- Withdraw consent - Remove your child at any time

6. Data Protection
We protect children's data by:
- Storing data in the EU (Frankfurt, Germany) for GDPR compliance
- Encrypting data in transit and at rest
- Limiting access to only the household administrator
- Not sharing data with third-party advertisers
- Applying high privacy settings by default
7. Data Retention
Children's data is retained only while they are part of an active household. When you:
- Remove a child from your household - their data is deleted immediately
- Delete your account - all children's data in your household is deleted
8. Age Appropriate Design (UK AADC)
OrgMyHome is designed with children's best interests in mind, following the UK Information Commissioner's Age Appropriate Design Code:
- Data minimisation - We collect only essential information
- High privacy by default - Children's data is not shared
- No profiling - We don't build profiles of children
- No nudge techniques - We don't use manipulative design
- Parental controls - Parents have full control over children's data
- No geolocation - We don't track children's location
9. COPPA Compliance (United States)
For users in the United States, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We:
- Do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13
- Require parental consent (via account creation) before adding children
- Give parents the ability to review and delete their children's information
- Do not condition participation on disclosure of more information than necessary
